Congratulations to everybody who was recognized at the 8th Annual Story County Youth Volunteer Awards! We had over 250 come to watch as we recognized 19 outstanding groups and individuals with this award. Richard Reynolds, Director of Iowa State’s Memorial Union, was the emcee. He opened the night with a quote from Dr. Seuss’s ‘The Lorax’, “Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It’s not.”

We celebrated the evening with opening remarks from Volunteer Center of Story County, Iowa State’s Student Activity Center, Richard Reynolds and a representative from the Governor’s Office. The evening proceeded with the award ceremony and was followed with a video featuring photos of all of the honorees. The evening concluded with a brownie and ice cream celebration.

These 19 individuals and groups are great examples for other youth volunteers. They show that when you feel passionate about something age does not determine whether a person can make an impact or not. We were excited to see so many of their families and friends come recognize their hard work as they received their awards.

Congratulations to all those honored with this award!
