September is a busy month in Ames, and that means a busy month for the Volunteer Center. Check out these cool community events and contact us to see how you can get involved!

September 7- Ames Edible Garden Bike Tour. The Ames Edible Garden Tour offers a snapshot of the diversity of Ames’ urban gardens. Stops at more than a dozen host gardens will help take expert gardeners to a new level and will show novice gardeners what they can do with limited space and resources.

Garden hosts will receive tour participants from 12-4pm on Saturday. Feel free to drop by participating gardens on your own schedule, join an organized group bike tour, or attend one of the scheduled demonstrations.

September 11- National Day of Service and Remembrance. The idea is to create a permanent and positive tribute that honors the 9/11 victims and those that rose in service in response to the attacks. Each year volunteers all over the nation find their own way to serve their communities while remembering those who served our nation. How will you remember and serve?
